Connor Doyle reunites with his mentor and current Seahawk head coach, Jason Childs, for his first season on the St. Mary's men's lacrosse coaching staff in 2016.
The Elkridge, Maryland native spent two years with Childs at Shorter, primarily responsible for the Hawks’ defensive game plan. He assisted Childs with all the administrative responsibilities of team management, such as budgeting, scheduling, and travel logistics. Doyle also monitored the academic progress of the student-athletes and supervised study hall.
He gained additional coaching experience as the head coach of the USA International Lacrosse Team between the months of June and July 2015. The team was composed of collegiate players who competed in the Berlin Cup International Tournament in Berlin, Germany and Prague, Czech Republic. Doyle guided the team to the championship trophy.
Doyle was a four-year starter on defense and two-year team captain for Division II Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, North Carolina. He was a three-time All-Conference Carolinas selection, including first-team honors as a senior in 2013. Doyle was a member of the 2012 USA International Lacrosse Team, which traveled to Melbourne, Australia.
As a defenseman, he gathered 150 ground balls and caused 109 turnovers while adding three goals and 10 assists.
Doyle graduated from Belmont Abbey in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management and a minor in business. He earned his MBA from Shorter in November 2015.
Devin Bushweller begins his first season on the Seahawk coaching staff in 2016. Bushweller will work with the midfielders, handle scouting and film exchange, and serve as liasion for the Seahawks Lacrosse Camps.
The Woodbridge, Virginia native is familiar with the Capital Athletic Conference having played his ball at Christopher Newport University. Bushweller was a four-year midfielder for the CNU Captains, serving as team captain during his senior year (2014-15). He was part of the winningest class in program history and the 2015 squad set the school record for most wins with 11.
As a sophomore with the Captains, Bushweller saw action in all 17 games as CNU earned its first-ever NCAA tournament bid. His sophomore campaign was his best as he tallied five goals, two assists, eight ground balls, and two caused turnovers.
He was a 2011 U.S. Lacrosse All-American at Osbourn Park High School in Manassas (Va.). Bushweller helped the Yellow Jackets to two district championships and one Virginia Northwest region championship. A four-time all-district honoree, he was chosen as the team MVP his senior year as well as a Washington Post honorable mention and All-Met selection.
Bushweller has honed his coaching skills as a graduate assistant at Christopher Newport (Fall 2015) and as a head coach at Menchville H.S. in 2015 (Newport News, Va.) as well as coaching the Evergreen (Leesburg, Va.) and Rebelax (Fairfax, Va.) club teams between 2012 and 2015.
He graduated from Christopher Newport in May 2015 with a bachelor of arts in communications and a minor in U.S. National Security Studies.
